::silly::  Nope!  The mineral blocks are full of minerals they need, but the pumas/lava stones are what they need for their teeth.  If you have to decide one or the other ... they need the pumas/lava/sanora stones are the more important one of the two.

I don't think everyone uses those mineral blocks as much- but everyone should use the pumice or lava stones like Jo Ann said. Some animals never take to the mineral ones- none of mine do. They love lava stones for sure though.

Does anyone know where I can find a pumas stone? Or an equivalent.

I cannot order online from lonestar or chinworld because they shipping and handling is way too much for me.

You can buy lava bites/blocks at places like pet smart or pet co. They are in a package of 3. They are colored pink, blue and yellow. They will be in the small animal section. They run about $4 in my area for the package. You can also google chinchilla supplies. There maybe someone selling who is closer to you so shipping isn't too expensive.

I googled for 4 hours last night to find someone with everything I need, but I just can't. =/

::silly::  Sorry, I should have anticipated the second question.  The lava blocks are larger than the lava bites/stones and usually run $1.50 to $3.00 at most pet stores and/or feed stores.  I was going to post a picture of two new-born kits with a lava block, but it says the upload folder is full.   :(
