Treats
« on: November 10, 2007, 03:41:55 PM »

The other day at the pet store, I saw "Chinchilla Cookie Treats"  Basically, it is a hard cookie shaped disc made of different things.  I was wondering if these kinds of treats were good for chinchillas.  ::silly::

No- don't buy treats or food from pet stores. Chins can have 1 of these treats per day: a raisin, a single peice of shredded wheat cereal (without the frosting), rosehips, a craisin, a dried banana chip, and a few other things other members may add to the list. All the pet store treats are normally bad. NO CORN. They sell corn cobbs as treats and corn is proven to hurt their digestive system. Raisins can help constipation (but too many may cause diarrhea) and Shredded Wheat squares can calm diarrhea. More then one treat of any kind a day can be harmful to chins.  :(

Thanks so much- that's good to know.  ::silly::  I have only been giving him a raisin a day, and I'll keep doing that.  :)
