I moved one of my mosaic males into his a run where his new mate is over the weekend. He has always been healthy and that is why I decided to move him to begin to slowly introduce them. He was acting fine and I was checking him this morning and noticed his chin was real wet. He also had a very purple spot on his ear- like a bruise. I felt his bottom jaw and it felt normal- no real bumpy spots or anything. I closed his run off as soon as he went back in the cage. I've checked on him all throughout the day and now his chin is almost completely dry. He eats great- acts great.. so I'm going to continue checking him several times a day to see if it happens again.

Is there something that can cause a sudden drooling problem? Could it be because of him and his mate sniffing thru the run wires? Could he have gotten injured (his ear was bruised over night for sure.. he was fine last night) and had it cause it? His eyes are dry as can be and bright. No runny nose or anything. Any ideas?

I'll post a picture of his ear later tonight when I get a chance if that would help.

If he was just introduced to a female that is probably urine.  The female will spray it at the male.

I never even thought about that. She must have good aim if that is true.

His chin is dry now. I'm keepin my eye on him still, tho.

   I agree with Jamie, he probably just got sprayed by a very accurate female!      Especially since he is all dry now.

But, for others ... if sudden drooling starts, it could be a sign that there is a cracked tooth, a piece of hay or something stuck between two teeth, or an injury.  If the drooling continues for 2 or more days, it's always good to get it checked out by a qualified exotic pet vet.
