Annie,

I am so sorry to hear about your mother!  It is very natural to be scared.  My father had spots on his lungs some time back and they thought it might be cancer.  For several weeks we all were terrified, waiting for the results of his biopsy.  It was ok, thank god.  But it was the most frightening time of my life.

Though, I know it is probably a small comfort to know, medical technology has come light years in the treatment of cancers.  If your mom's was caught early she has a very good chance of being around for a long time to come.   Support groups are filled with survivors of all types of cancer.

There's nothing really that any of us can say that will make this ok for you.  Just know we are all praying for you, and will be here to support you in any way we can.

I am sorry to hear that. Just remember that does NOT mean that you are going to lose her just because they have found it.

My dad's mother had colon cancer and my moms mother had breast and skin cancer and they both are still living. They found some things when my dad had a colonoscopy (sp?) a few months ago but they came back to be nothing after the biopsy. I didn't find out until a few days later after they had gotten the results and it still made my heart sink.

Think for the best and the best will come.

I am so sorry to hear about your Mom.  I suggest you go to a natural food store and buy "IP6".  IP6 is a natural product.  It comes in capsule form and powder.  The powder is best for treatments.  It needs to be mixed in a glass of orange juice.  It has a citrus flavor and orange juice makes it easier to drink.

The easiest way to explain IP6 is that is inhibits the growth of bad cells so that good cells can regenerate.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer a little over seven years ago.  It is a terrifying word "cancer".  But like everyone is telling you, keep your faith and hope up.  Having a positive attitude is a big part of getting better!  Please tell your mom to keep hope in her heart and never give up!  It may become difficult sometime, but never give up!

I believe in IP6.  I had a mass that was about the size of a golf ball (which I thought was scar tissue from a previous removal of a fibroid).  The doctor told me that I would need a mastectomy.  I started immediately on IP6 about six weeks before I had surgery.   The mass got smaller and my lymphnodes were negative of cancer.  The doctor couldn't believe that IP6 could help like it did.  I only had to have a lumpectomy.

http://www.thewolfeclinic.com/ip6.html

Here is a website page that might be helpful in explaining what IP6 is.  Dr. Shamsuddin that is mentioned discovered IP6.  My husband and I spoke with him when I found out I had cancer.  He was very nice and helpful.

I hope you will take my advice and at least get your mom to try IP6.  It won't hurt!

Thinking of you and I will keep your family in my prayers.

Thanks so much everyone. You're all such amazing, wonderful people.
Janice - I'm headed to Sprout's tomorrow for groceries. I'll pick up some of the IP6 while I'm there if they have it (crosses fingers). Thanks for putting it out there for us.

A place you can also look ...GNC vitamin stores.....I used to find mine there.  If you can't find it locally you can always look for sites on the internet to order IP6.

The brand I recommend is Cell Forte Enzymatic Therapy IP6 & Inositol.

Remember the powder is faster working in the body.

It is a little on the "pricey" side!

::silly::  "Cancer" is a terrifying word.  I had eye cancer, but it was found in time.   I was given three laser surgeries over a 9 month period of time to get rid of it.  I still have to get re-checked every year, but it has all been taken care of so far.   I'm 7 years post cancer.   :::grins::

:) With today's technology, they can often work wonders.   ::nod::

If you haven't been able to find Cell Forte IP-6 in stores, I found a website that sells the capsules and the powder.  http://www.blessednutrition.com/

The powder would work be injested into her system faster than the capsules.  It is on the pricey side, but if you look at other web sites....blessed nutrition is the cheapest.

Good Luck!

I'm so sorry to hear that about your mom.  Cancer is such an awful disease and its just not fair that it happens to good people.  Cancer runs in my family and right now, my granmom, great aunt and my great uncle all have it.  My granmom is already a survivor so try to keep your chin up eventhough it may be difficult.

Mom went in for her first Chemotherapy treatment today. They said when they found it that it was in her lung, but not actual lung cancer, its a wandering form of cancer that has come from another part of the body. She has a CAT scan tomorrow to see if they can find it, or if its just something that was dormant from when she had cancer before... 11 years ago, I think? She had ovarian cancer when I was very young. Then later she had skin cancer, but they treated that pretty easily.

We used the Ip-6... She has to mix it in cranberry juice because she's allergic to citrus. She says its terrible, but when she brought it up to the Oncologist, he said it was a great idea, and to go ahead and try it.

Thanks so much, everyone, for all your support. It means so much to me.

I'm so sorry you and your family have to go through this.  I wish there was something we could say to make it better.  It is really important to stay as positive as you can for your mother's sake.  Many studies have shown that people who stay positive have a greater rate of recovery.  And, I am sure it would be helpful to your mom.
Maybe you can take her shopping for wigs or pretty scarves to wear.  It might be something you could do together, and it could help you guys feel a little better that you can still do things.
Whatever happens, please know we are here to support you however we can.  I'll be keeping you and your mother in my prayers.

I just saw this post and wanted to try and give words of advice. Most of my family has passed through cancer but the best thing to do is to keep as happy as you can around them, give them hope, pray for them, keep them in the best mood possible. Through positive thought and reinforcements the evils of sickness and disease can be overcome and the recovery and healing can become to take foot.

Take what the people suggest here seriously as they have had good experiences but what she needs most is the love of family and never give her a doubt, always think positive. Sickness and disease are tests that we must overcome, and through positive thinking and faith the test will be complete and everyone can look forward to long lives with the person.

How's your mom doing?  Is she still going through treatments?  We lost my mother-in-law to cervical cancer last march, five months before our wedding.  Alex's dad died of a brain tumour seven years before that.  It's not fun.  I would look into diet therapies, and not what they tell you or feed you in the hospital.  My mom in law had great improvement of her discomfort by not eating dairy, sugar or refined products.  I"m a chinese Medical Doctor, so can help you if you want.

Keep us posted.  You have our support and understanding.
