Male kits as young as 10 weeks old have been known to impregnate their mother.
In-breeding is very bad, but, the
instinct to survive is even stronger ... sometimes the father, will even kill his son for the right to breed.
This is why it is best
not to have two males in the same cage
IF there are females in the same room or within smelling distance. Males will sometimes fight to the death to breed a female they can not even get to.
I had a father and son housed together for 9 months one time and everything seemed fine between them ... until the female in the next cage went into season ... the father almost killed the son. The damage to the son that was done was horrific.
