I'm notsure why my chinchilla has such bright red ears sometimes.

So, I know when the ears get red and/or bloodshot, it probably means the chinchilla is too hot. But, my little guy Tonka, lately his ears have been getting red like that when the temperature should be fine for him.  When it happened tonight it was 65ish, maybe just a hint over. It doesn't last very long cause I immediately make it cooler in our room when I notice it happening, and now it's about 60 degrees in here and he looks much better. But this isn't the first time it's happened while its been what I thought and what used to be a okay temperature for him, usually around 65-70. Are there any strange reasons that I don't know about that could be causing him to seemingly over heat in such cool temperatures? This has always been while he's inside his cage being relatively calm. I just don't understand it lol. If anyones got any pointers on what I could be doing wrong or what could be causing it, I'd love to hear it. It's probably something simple I'm just not thinking of, but that's why I love this place, you can be forgetful and everyone here is still very helpful.  :)

Is he a big boy? How old is he?
Weight can make a diff. As it takes more energy to move.
Just like us some like it cooler than other, maybe he has a fine thick coat and would like it a little cooler.
The other thing could be fever, but I've not seen that yet.
If all else is fine with him, eating and passing, I wouldn't worry yet. Just keep on eye on him, and don't let him have long runs just incase.
Put a slab of stone in his cage or a ceramic tile just incase he is getting over heated.

Thanks, I just wanted to make sure it couldn't be some type of illness that I didn't expect or know about. I've been learning about chinchilla's for the last year or so, but that doesn't mean I know very much! lol He's almost 9 months old, and he's not so big I don't think. I don't have anything other then a bathroom scale but he's in between one and two pounds. He's got a large marble piece in his cage, but he hardly ever uses it. He's eating and drinking as usual though, and everything else is going fine, so I guess I won't worry so much. My boyfriend says I worry and baby him too much, but I say he doesn't baby his chinchilla enough! lol Thanks so much  :)
