I don't think my standard girl is grooming herself.  Her fur looks awful and giving her a dust bath doesn't seem to help. It's hard to describe how it looks but its almost like she's slipped her fur but it's all over. She just had her first litter in Sept and the kits are now weaned.  What could be causing this?  Which # comb can I purchase to comb her out?  She's eating and drinking and eating hay and she's acting fine, its just her fur issue.

Sometimes that happens. I've had a male who has been in breeding that had fur probably like what your talking about.. little batches of hair sticking out. I just give him dust baths and used a #2 comb. I brushed them out over a weeks time.. not all at once. Some were just knoted it seemed so I didnt pull them out. He is the only one I have that was like that. Once I got them out they never came back.

Could it be a diet thing? If she's just had a litter maybe she's low on some vitamin or mineral that affects fur, possibly from feeding them...?

She is probably just going through prime (when she will slowly loose old fur and get new fur). Some chinchilla shed more during this time, others are barely noticeable, while others (like yours) will loose fur in tufts.  Its very normal and nothing to worry about.
