Advice on a mineral stone
« on: January 07, 2008, 08:46:50 AM »

They have stopped production on the usual gnaw block I buy for my chins, which is made of pumice. I've looked everywhere. My local shop suggested an alternative and I just wanted to run it past everyone here. It's a mineral stone containing 'crushed limestone, oyster shells, dicalcium phosphate, iodised salt, quartz grit and iron oxide'. Just wanted to make sure it would be okay for my babies to have these.

I would not use them.  You could upset the balance of minerals in your chin's diet and I don't know that I trust the ingrediants.  Hope this helps.

I have always kept mineral wheels on my chins kabobs. I don't know if the mineral wheel is the same as the mineral stone. I have some chins who chew on it and some that don't. If you can't find pumice stones at your store, try Forchinate Chins @:

She has excellent prices and even better shipping costs! Plus, the proceeds help to run the rescue.

I tend to stay toward the mineral wheels also, they really like them and they dont get wasted like a lot of other blocks I have bought them
