Facebook Pet Profiles
« on: January 13, 2008, 01:02:58 PM »

I don't know if anyone here has Facebook, but if you do, you should add the "Pet Profiles" application.  I was looking for  something like this for a while, but I only found "Catbook" and "Dogbook". Well, now there's Pet Profiles!

You can put a picture of your chinchilla (or any pet for that matter) and all their details, plus add photo albums, etc.

There's just something I like about showing my chinchillas off..... :::grins::

Facebook is a social site, it is part of the mass of them that came out about 4 or so years ago and continues to be used today. I personally dislike all sites like it due to issues and problems faced by friends of mine.

WOW what is Facebook....what IS Facebook?  It seems to have taken over the world where I live!  It's nice to know there are still some Facebook-free zones out there.  I probably hear that word on average 15 times a day, here and there, everywhere.

The idea is so simple, just sign up and then search out people's names that you know, and add them as friends.  You can search your old schools that you went to and find old friends, or look at your friend's friend's lists and see who they are friends with and add those people as your friends....   On your page you can customize it a bit and put your interests and favourites etc, and you can add pictures or yourself and your friends...and your PETS!!!  It's basically a way to keep in touch with people that you would normally not have communication with often....or ever.

I take it with a grain of salt.  I've reconnected with old friends I never thought I'd see again.  And I've had evil ex-boyfriends try to contact me as well.....like many things in life, it's great and terrible all at once.

I sure like sharing pictures of my chinnies though!

oh and p.s. Debbie I added you as a friend!  nemue you should get in on this too, us Canadian chinchilla owners need to stick together  :::grins:: I'm Leslie Weiss, add me!

p.p.s. oh yes and about the hatching chinchillas, yes, super cute.  They had a Christmas one where he was wearing a Santa hat, and about 6 of my friends thought I needed one so I had 6 of them on my profile.  It was a little overkill, but it was funny anyways.

Find me too, I'm Rebecca Risk.  Debbie's my friend.   ::)

I resisted it for a while, but then I realized every single person I know is on there, and now I"m addicted!  Other social websites I"ve been on weren't as busy as facebook.

I've never heard of Facebook in South Carolina.  I am sure it is around, but every single, young person that is into chatting web sites talks about My Space.

I have mostly tried to stay away from those places, not because I'm antisocial, just because I fear addiction...
I just have hundreds of pictures of my chinnies on my phone which I force people to look at. For example, my boss showed me some pictures of his kids so I asked him if we wanted to see my babies. He thought I'd had an actually human baby without him knowing and couldn't understand why I would refer to my pets this way. I forced him to look at the pictures anyway and he finally had to admit they were cute. My sister also gets regular test message picture updates of what they're up to. :::grins::

But I'm still going to try and resist Facebook and Myspace for now...

Myspace has a lot of chinchillas!  You can also check out my profile   www.myspacecom/newiesports  I love lots of cute photos there, including one that will be on a Hallmark card.
