foot fungus
« on: February 14, 2008, 07:44:30 PM »

Hi all.  Well I've been keeping an eye on Lulu's feet since about a month ago I noticed she had no hair on the tops of her big toes.  I just noticed tonight that it's spread to the sides of her next-biggest-toes, so it must be a fungus.  The skin doesn't look flaky, just dark pink.  Maybe a little bit dry?

I'm hoping to avoid a vet appointment, is there anything I can try before resorting to that?  I really can't afford it right now....

I will give you a little advise. It is safer to go when the problem is small than if it gets out of control. The dangerous thing about fungus is that it travels through spores that travel through the air. You can put some tinactin in the dust bath and see if that helps, but if it is something that is spreading, you might want to have a vet identify what it is. Good luck, keep us posted!

No problem! I worry about the spores in the air with my kids here. Plus I have 8 chins and the fungus can spread to all of them. Keep us posted!

Well, I am dropping Lulu off tomorrow for the day to be checked out.  It's $70 just for the office visit, and I really hope I don't traumatize her by transporting her in the car, and the vet doing god-knows-what to her...poor little baby.
