Chinchillas do change color over time...Beiges will turn more orange, Pink eared chinchillas will get freckles all over their ears, mosaics will darken and fade during the first year and a half, Black and Brown Velvets will continue to darken and get more veiling down their bodies the first year.....

But looking at your pictures, they don't get a spot that big in 7 days.  It looks to me like your white has come into contact with something that has stained his fur.  Look around the cage and see what might be getting on him.

::silly::You might want to check the inside of that pipe in the floor of the cage.  I'd give it a good scrubbing, I'm sure you did before you put it in there, but another one couldn't hurt.   :::grins::  If he's been outside his cage playing, he could have rubbed up against most anything if he managed to play hide-n-seek like mine do sometimes.  :D

Is the fur in that area completely even with the fur around it?  If not, it could be showing the under color/new fur that may be trying to grow in. ::shrug::

I've seen pink white (properly named a white/beige) start showing more beige as they get older, but never one that changed that drastically, that quickly.  Of course anything can happen.  I'm not about to say it is impossible, just very, very, very rare.    :-[  :-\

Keep taking pictures so that we can see if the spot gets bigger or fades away! ::nod::

I have a white chin that did that and the wheel is what caused it. When he runs it is hitting his side and mine had some kind of grease or something on it and it got on his fur. Check the wheel and see if that is what it is. I got rid of mine like that and got the 1 from quality cages.

If your chinchilla gets fungus its fur will fall out.  You will start noticing bald spots and the exposed skin will be red and flaky.  The fur loss will spread rather quickly if untreated.  Its pretty unmistakable.

Is the desenex in a yellow bottle? I think I saw it at Wal-Mart but at the time I could not remember the name of it so I didn't get any.  ::shrug::

High humidity can cause it, chinchillas that constantly sit under a drippy waterbottle can get it, dirty cage conditions can cause it.  Plus it is highly contagious...Chinchillas can catch it from cats or other pets with ringworm, and from other infected chinchillas.

thankyou

I won't have too much to worry about cause my cage gets cleaned every sunday when I get my new newspaper  and they never sit under the water bottle and my cats don't go outside

I have one other question
my chins always sit ontop of their house and are huddled close together are they cold?  or just really close they are both male

I don't think they are cold. :) Chins just like to be close to eachother. They are cuddlers.  ::silly::
