Looks like that wheel was the cause for the mysterious sudden change of colors!  That piece that was rubbing his side doesn't look to safe either ... what if it were to turn over and poked him in the side.   

I love it when they snuggle/cuddle ... it is so sweet ... cagemates usually groom each other, too.  They are beautiful!

I did find desenex at walmart and got some
yes they are always grooming each other they don't fight anymore
it is funny to watch them go from the one bottom shelf and climb/bouce/jump off the side of the cage to the top shelf on top of their house

I have another question snowball doesn't take baths he will sniff the bath but won't go in I thought that it might have been cause the ceramic one was Buddy L's so I got my old antique glass candy holder jar (I used to use that for Buddy then I got the ceramic one)I put it through the dishwasher before giving it to snowball and he wouldn't go in that one either so my chins have 2 bath houses in their cage all the time now (spoiled little guys)
how do I get Snowball to take a bath cause he needs to get rid of those 2 spots on his fur?

If your chinchilla wasn't offered a bath as he grew it may be slow to come to him.  Just keep trying.  He should catch on from your other one.  I wouldn't leave the dust in the cage all the time.  If they dust too often it will dry out their skin.  Its best just to put it in about 3 times a week.  Eventually the one will see the other jumping in and will do the same.  You might also want to try an open topped dust bath.  We use the plastic shoe boxes that are about .98 cents at Wal-mart.  Its OK to use plastic because you only leave it in for about 10 minutes and the chinchillas are too busy dusting to chew. 

Its not an emergency to get the spot off of the fur.  It won't hurt him to let it wear off.

Like Jamie said, I would try the open dust bath tray ( glass baking dishes, if they are big enough, are great).   

Also, leaving the dust bath in there more than 15 or 20 minutes ... you are asking for trouble ... they will urinate in it, which invites fungus.   

 Any time your chin urinates in the dust bath dust ... empty it, wash the container and put fresh dust bath dust in it before he uses it again.

well last night I took the bath jar out of the cage but left the ceramic one in cause Buddy L likes to sleep in it sometimes and the wheel I took it out cause I cleaned their cage last night and was washing everything down with those clorox wipes (love those things) and noticed that they were grinding the part that held the wheel on
you can see that in this pic so if anyone has one of these kind please get rid of it or check it everyday cause if I wouldn't have caught it in time that part would have fallen off and my chins would have gotten hurt really bad

Its funny how they love to sleep inside anything they can fit in...a few things they can't quite fit into but try their best anyway!  ....you did remove the dust from it, right?  We dont want these sweet chinchillas breathing in all of that dust while they sleep.

no ther is no dust in it I don't think that I will be using as a dust bath house and just use the large glass thing I have to watch them flip around and he isn't sleeping in it that musch anymore just on top of his house with Snowball
what to do?
