Question about food (and color)
« on: August 16, 2008, 07:41:39 PM »

I've been feeding Hammy the food from the petshop where I bought him, but they have stopped getting as much of it in as they did, I think they are going to stop getting it soon.  When it comes to Gizzie the petshop he came from has plenty of food.  My biggest concern is that the food I have for Gizzie and the food I have for Hammy don't look alike and I'm worried I may be getting something that isn't chinchilla food from one of the pet shops (neither place sells it in packages, just by the bag full out of a storage box).  I'm thinking of ordering food on-line for both of them so that they have the same kind, and so that I know I'll be getting chinchilla food and I was wondering what the healthiest kind would be to order, and how much of it I should order at a time.

As for the color part of this question, I'm having a hard time figuring out which color my babies are, could someone help me if I put up a few pictures?

First of all I think we would all love to see pictures of your Chinnies!!! I think we can all aggree when I say we love pictures here?!!? AM I RIGHT!??!
I'm sure many of us could help you to figure out what color they are.

Second of all, I feed my Chinchillas Mazuri. I pay like 10 - 15 for a HUGE bag that lasts me a VERY long time. Really the two best are Mazuri and Oxbow.
What are you feeding them?? What brand I mean.

Thats part of the reason I want to swich, I have no idea what kind it is.
The petshop where I get food for Hammy keeps the food in a big tub and it's labled Chinchilla food, and you scoop it out into a bag to take home, and the petshop where Gizzie came from sells bags of food but it is just clear and has no name on it.

You can buy Tradition from the Ryersons as well as a great suppliment

Chocolatechinchillas.com sells life line which is great for a supplement and when issues arise

and if you contact brenda walters you can get the Nutrina Nature Wise that many of the breeders feed.

go to mutationchinchilla.com which is the MCBA site and you can get links to a lot of online feed supplies
