Alright, Silver our first chinchilla started throwing temper tantrums almost a year ago and they would last for a minute or two and then stop. Recently she is throwing them for over 30 minutes at a time throwing stuff out of the cage, pushing the other one around (literally) and biting at everything that gets near her. I am posting this because I do worry about the other one getting to close and getting hurt, Amy usually stays away, and wanted to find out if you guys know how to stop it.

It typically happens when we open the cage doors and put food in, or pick her up and put her back, or anything that revolves around opening the doors and not letting her out. We can't let her out every time we open the door but want to curb this some.

Any suggestions?

Is she possibly not getting enough time outside of the cage?? Maybe giving her an hour or two of free run would be helpful?

Try putting things in the cage for her to play with, adding more shelves to move around on, or maybe a bigger cage.
Just a few suggestions.
They can get snarly though can't they.
If your afraid the other might get hurt you may have to seperate them.

I would try only opening the cage when she's out, as much as possible.  Clean and feed when the door is open.

Also try giving her longer runs, maybe two a day.  My Kira will go non-stop for almost an hour sometimes.  Does she have a wheel?
