Small lump on Lulu
« on: October 23, 2008, 06:27:37 PM »

Hi guys,

All of us (myself and the chinnies) are getting along wonderfuly.  Oats really help.  However, I was rubbing Lulu's belly right now, and found a small, circular lump protruding from her stomach.  It's about 1/4 size a piece of poo, it feels like a swollen nipple.  Any ideas?  I'm worried.  ::scaredspeachless:: I will certainly be keeping my eye on it.  Please let me know your thoughts and experiences!

Thanks in advance!

Sometimes I used to feels Cheech's :blush2:
Most of the time I found it was a bit of something tangled in her fur. Cheech likes to chew mineral and pumice blocks into a powder to make her own dust baths and consequently gets bits stuck right down near her skin which I keep thinking are growths.
The size would depend on how big her poos were. ::nod:: But maybe chinnies go through changes when they're on heat? Someone else might know, I'm just guessing. Obviously keep an eye on it. Pretend to tickle her and part the fur to have a look. And I hope it's nothing serious.

My girls have had poop on them before.  Kira has pooped on M'noke's head!  I think it was an accident, but yesterday she had some sprays of pee on her head, so I'm not so sure now... LOL  Their fur is so thick anything could get in there.

::silly::  When you say the lump in on the belly ... exactly where on the belly?  Can you post a picture of it, please?

It was on her lower abdomen, about an inch from her hind leg on the lower right corner of her belly.  I'd say it's about 3 mm by 2 mm.  She hasn't let me handle her in a few days to check it again.  If I'm able to handle her and check it, there's no way I could make her pose for a photo, too!  I'll be sure to keep you all posted when I finally get my hands on that girl!  Thanks for caring! :)

That I am aware of ...Yes, every born creature has a belly button that is how they are connected to their mama in the womb.

Maybe Lulu has a little hernia.

Is that a big deal if she has a small hernia?  It's a tiny little bump thing around where her belly-button would be.  I'd hate to have to put her through surgery if it wasn't completely necessary! :-\

She's eating, drinking, pooping, and acting completely normal.  ::shrug::

Personally, I wouldn't worry about it.

If she is acting fine, eating, pooping, drinking and playing like she should, I would just let it alone.

But keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't get bigger.

Thank you so much for your replies.  I agree with you, I'm going to keep an eye on it (and her) and not worry about it until I see any differences.  The lump could have been there all along and I only noticed it because she let me scratch her belly (which is once in an entire year since I've had her).  I'll be sure to write again if anything changes, but I hope it doesn't.  Thanks again :)
