LOL I have been there!  My first chin was a "he", the breeder said so, the vet said so, and I thought so.  I bought a male cage mate for my boy...111 days later one of my "males" had a baby!  It was very interesting trying to figure out who the mommy was.  Turns out I just had a very "male-looking" female.  Which was fine, because that is how I ended up getting into breeding, which I love.

It happens sometimes.  Especially when they are young it can get pretty tricky trying to tell the difference.  With some males it is very obvious, there will be a large space between the penis and anus, but sometimes the space can be very small, making him look like a female.  The space doesn't become more obvious until he gets older.

If it came from a breeder.. they should know..

Sometimes it is hard to sex kits at birth, I may wait a few days to re-check if I'm not sure.  If I am making a sale, I make SURE it is the correct sex before selling.

I have taken in chins that were males and ended up being females, vice versa...

I have a girl I bred and when she was born I was excited both kits were female.  Well around the time she was weaned, I checked again and again because she looked different from the other females.  I finally decided she was male weaned her with some boys, even posted pics on a forum for a second opinion.  My adult boy was um pretty excited about that "boy" so I checked and checked again finally found the vaginal slit that was hiding so I was right the first time she was a female.  So she had a sex change twice, lol.

Sometimes with certain kits, I have to look twice or maybe wait until they grow a little and recheck.

Most are sexed right away but sometimes, I am iffy at first.

I agree. By the time kits are weaned you should be able to sex them correctly.
