Bedding types
« on: March 02, 2009, 08:44:11 AM »

Okay, I've been using Aspen bedding the whole time ive had my chin, no plans on changing that, but my grandma had some baby birds and had a small cage for them with recycled paper bedding on the bottom. She offered to give me the left over bedding for my chin, but Im not sure if its good to use since Ive only been told aspen or pine ::confused::

Yes recycled paper is fine, as is news print.
The only problem with news print is they leave foot tracks all over the pine shelves.
I like to get end rolls from the local paper. I get loads of unprinted news print, and a great tube for about $4.00.
I do run out of  pine shavings now and then, like now there is none available, so I use the paper.

::silly::   News paper rolls are great for the chins to play on/with and the unprinted paper is great at times.  (I don't like to use that which has print on it because the ink will often rub off on the fur.)   The newspaper paper is softer than regular paper and when shredded, will not cut the feet, like the typing paper can do.

I use sheets of paper or paper towels if I have a problem with a chin that is sick ... you can see the color of the urine and the condition of the poop better on it.
