The other day I stuck our chin in a carrier so I could use the hose attachment of the Dyson. Today I used the dust attachment without the vacuum and a dust pan and left the chin in the cage and swept it up...Was pondering on a purchase of a hand held vac and "if" I go that route...should he be removed each time I vacuum?

What are some examples of how you clean up the droppings off of the cage shelves?

I use my shop vac and the chins love to play with it. They let their whiskers get sucked in.
Mine are used to all kinds of noises from birth, they lived next door to our wood working shop for 10 years.
If your going to start with a new noise just take the chin in your hands at first and vaccum. Once they are used to the noise it shouldn't bother them at all.
During daily clean ups I just use a small cleaning brush to sweep everything to the floor.

Well...I have carpet and I'm not sure I want to sweep it out onto the carpet on purpose. But...I have been vacuuming in the room all week. So I took the hose attachement and it didn't seem to bother him at all...He actually was curious and was walking on the hose...

Thanks! I just didn't know if that was "the thing to do" or not. He didn't seem to mind in the least...YAY! So now I know...thanks for your post Debbie.

I'm thinking of investing in one of those...To just keep for that purpose. To drag the Dyson out to do poop patrol...I mean it's doable...but for the little bit of shavings he kicks out from his litter pan. It would be much easier to have a hand vac.

If you got to wallmart they have a 4 in 1 vac for about 20 dollars . I love it . You can take the handle and the floor vac think off in about 10 seconds and there you have a hand vac . Then put the handle and floor vac back on and you have something to suck any stray poos off your carpet . I use it almost every day. Its so handy and light . There is no need to drag the dyson out lol.

I think i'm going to get a hand vac. I use a regular vaccume to clean up the poop outside of the cage right now, but for inside i just use a peice of toilet paper to pick it up. A vaccume seems like an easier and better idea though.
