    No problem about the questions ... that's what we are here for ... to help you keep your chin safe and healthy.   

That is very cute and I'm sure your chin would love it ... but ... it would probably be destroyed/eaten within a week or two ... always remember ... chinchillas will chew on anything they can get their little teeth into.

I would save your chin money and put it into a special account/place for a chinchilla emergency.  I make it a point to find the price of something and see what I can replace the item with that is just as safe (or safer) and costs much less ... the money I save is them deposited into my special chinchilla bank.   

You are willing to pay $9.99 + shipping for it ... for the same amount of money, you could purchase the wood and wood screws it would take to make at least 2 huts that would probably last your chin about 4 to 6 months or longer.   Hm-mm that's saving you a minimum of $20 a month that you could add to your chinchilla emergency bank.      Plus, just think of the pride you would take in making something with your own hands for your chinchilla?  (What a project to do/share with your kids! - and teach them how to save money at the same time)

And most places will even cut it up for you.
So you could buy an 8 foot length of 1x6 pine that's 12 pieces .
And keep an eye out for large tubes, I get mine from same day Currier. They are 4-6-8 inches.
I get small ones from the news print rolls that work great for stuffing hay in. When the hay in gone they play with the tube.
I love going to the second hand stores ya never know what you can find there, and the craft stores.

We need as good imaginations as the chins.

The thing is I have a petsmart gift card and I'm trying to find a use for it. I only have a Chin as a pet and I WON"T buy the Chin food from there. I'm trying to figure out something safe for my chin that I can spend upto $50 on. It's a tough spot to be in I know

Well that's different, yes buy some houses.
Mine love some of them that I have gotten with rescues.
Mineral blocks and chews would be good, a spare water bottle or shavings.
It wouldn't be to hard for me to spend that at a pet shop.

   Yep, that does make a difference.  Debbie came up with some good ones.      A spare feeding dish, always comes in handy, a supplement feeding dish, lava stones, dust bath dust, those never go bad.   Hay, hay cubes, chew toys like the little log bridge of many colors, a carry cage, a whelping cage that can be used for an isolation cage, should one get sick or injured and need to be more confined than in the big cage.  Nutri-Cal and Petromalt for the first aide kit, extra feeding cups.  A fish net (used to catch coi fish in an outdoor pond) is great for catching an elusive chin without chasing it.   I could spend $500 in just a few minutes in a pet store.  (That's why Bill keeps me out of them.)
