::silly::  No, it is not normal.  He needs to be seen by a vet.

Is he in a cage alone, or with other chins?

How old is he?

Can you post a picture, please?

I tried taking a pic too much hair and squrming I'll try agian later. No idea how old and by himself in the cage. I took him from a house hold that I new would not care for him right. He was given to them.

::silly::  How long have you had him?

When you got him was the fur clean/fluffy with all the hairs standing upright and separated, or did it look like it was kinda gathering together and needed a dust bath?

Is there just the one place, or are there other places?

Where on his body did you find the scab/sore?

If there are other places that are scabbed over or are red and irritated, where are they and what do they look like?

Is there a shape to sore/scab/irritated area such as round or long like a scratch?

What color is the skin in the area where the scab is or was?

Looks like one bad spot of fungus. Can you clean it off? Maybe with some alcohol, or soften it with p'sporine?
Doesn't feel soft in under, like not an abscess, just crusty skin???
I'd clean it up some, see what's it's like under, and then if I wasn't happy I'd have a vet look at it.
I've never seen fungus in person, and am no vet!

::silly::  I've never seen fungus ether, but it's definitely something I would want a vet to check.

I agree with Debbie, I would clean it good first, to see what it looks like under that crusty part.  A triple antibiotic ointment will soften it, or you could use saline to soften the crusty part.  A scab removed, often reveals the true problem, but I do like to have the antibiotic ointment handy.

I had a momma chin that got one of her teats torn off when two of her kits were fighting over the same one.  At first glance, it just looked like a small sore, but once it was cleaned good, I knew it was not.  You can read the article and see the pictures on my second website called Luv 'N Chins II at: http://www.geocities.com/jobernstein1949/NursingDamage.html  (Warning: this is not for children to see!)

Please keep us posted.
