messy hay!
« on: February 02, 2010, 09:32:01 AM »

I've been trying alot of different ways of providing hay for my boys.. i first started with the hanging metal ball that i put the hay in and they pull it out, but thats so messy! I also tried the timothy hay cubes but they dont seem to like them as much. Now i'm at the point where I just put the hay on their middle level and they pick it up, but it ends up on the bottom level anyway! haha. Does anyone have a really good way of putting hay so it doesnt get all over the cage? thanks!

Some of my chins play with the hay no matter what I put it in. Some just like to pull it all out and throw It around.
I figure it's a cheap way to keep them entertained. LOL I know it can be messy, but I just pick up the old stuff every night and put in fresh. Their are hay racks you can get, pics here somewhere!!!!!
I just put mine in a short tube and let them have at it. rofl

Shove a handful into a toilet paper tube and toss that in the cage.  They will make a mess but they will have fun doing it!

wow i never thought of sticking it in a tp holder.. great idea.

they do make messes..

i have to tell you this..
the other day i did my cage cleaning.. washing and everything --not just my daily spot clean..

so when everythign was done and playtime was over for noel and angel, noel goes up to the bowl of hay [and let me tell you i cut it to keep it in the bowl and neat.. ocd... :2funny:] and she puts her paw in the dish and pulls it all out...... ::scaredspeachless:: ::scaredspeachless::

My cat watches and waits as I change the sheets on the bed, he loves to be the first into fresh linens.  ;D
