OMG OMG OMG ::Hairraising::

Laura just got back from her Dr.'s appointment.
She's dilated 3cms.They made another appointmet for Tuesday, but the Doc don't think she'll make.
So what do you guys know about dilating and the onset of labour.
Is there a DR in the house. rofl
My nerves are shot. ::pull hair::
We're not ready.
Her shower is Sunday, will she last?
No signs of labour yet. ::beeker::

Debbie, You better watch out!  A baby is on the way!
I am a surgical technician.  Usually a baby is born within the week (two weeks is a stretch) if dilation has occurred, especially 3cm.  It can be a two week span especially if this is her first child.  Did the Dr. say anything about the wall beginning to be soft? Did he do a vaginal exam?  If he mentioned it is softening and thinning then she is close.  Vaginal exams can help bring on labor sooner.  Since it disturbs "down there".
Keep us posted!

Wow Debbie Congrats!  Things are definately progressing and getting close.  Being her first child, one to two weeks could definately happen.  I know with my first I walked around dialated for almost ever.  Then finally they induced me.  Hopefully she makes it to her shower!

Keep us updated.

;) Hey there Debbie, or should I be saying grandma!!!  Baby is on it's way soon now!
I remember when I went to my OB for a regular appointment right on my due date and I was
3 cm dialated too.  My doctor sent us to the hospital right then & there. She said they would break my water and my labor would start.  Well, my daughter was born that afternoon.
However like Janice said above, I was also fully effaced (?), thinned out.  Basically ready to go!
Well since this was our first baby and I had no contractions or any signs of labor at the doctors office we were non believers so we stopped for lunch at McDonalds and my mom (a nurse) was yelling at me on the cell phone telling me NOT to eat anything OR dilly dally but to GET TO THE HOSPITAL!!!!!!!!!!!!  SO we did.  I guess I am glad we did go right to the hospital then because when we got there they broke my water and labor began quickly with contractions close together.  Got my epidural, dilated quickly to 10 cm and baby was born after pushing for 1 1/2 hours!

She's only 37 weeks.
I wanted another week or so anyway. ::tickedoff:: I doubt he'll listen and come when he's ready.
Baby knows best. ::nod::
I have to try and get something done today, and get my head out of this cloud. ::kiss99::

My second daughter was like that, she knew best ( and still does)!  Wasn't waiting until her due date, and came a few weeks early.  Everything went quickly, well, and she was fine!

::silly:: I was in a mild labor from 7 a.m. until 10 PM before I even told anyone.  My neighbor and a good friend was playing cards with me, finally, after seeing me twitch a few times ... she ask if I was in labor ... when I said yes and the pains were just under 5 minutes apart, she freaked and rushed me to the hospital.  Of course they stopped once we got there.  The little stinker decided to go on strike and did not arrive until 1:19 PM the following day.  Some let you know ahead of time, every thing will be done their way and are just born stubborn!    rofl

Where as, a cousin of mine was eating pizza, and thought it was indigestion.  Her hubby insisted taking her to the hospital and getting it checked out.  She delivered in the elevator on the way up to the delivery room.

You never quite know what might be instore for you.  Keep us posted!

I love the stories, and as we had a snow storm on sunday, only a few gals made the shower. We sat around had turkey soup{ Laura made and was some good},then a cup of tea and sweets, but the stories were awesome.
She just called after her Dr's appointment, { their so cool now Hubby is going}, she is fully effaced and 4 cms.
The Dr's said lets see if we can get something moving here, and gave her a good root.
Another thing, she said Laura is a carrier of a streptachocil{spelling????} and will need to tell staff to give her an antibiotic when her water breaks??????
Ever heard of this lady's?
Some much new stuff since I was having babies.
I'm so excited, and looking at all the baby stuff at the shower sure brought it closer.

Wow Debbie, sounds like today or tommorrow could be it!  Thats so exciting!  Let us know when he is here!

As far as the Group B strep goes, its nothing really just antibiotics in labor to prevent passing it to the baby.  I had it with my first son too.  But oddly enough, just because you have it once doesn't mean you have it with every pregnancy.  Thats why they test you every time to be sure.  I never had it with the other 3.

I am so excited for you!!!!!

Thanks Jacqui, and all
I'm learning so much, you'd swear I'd never done this before. :D
Just like the life of our chins, we keep learning with humans as well.
They sure do things different these days, and tell you so much more than when I was having kids.
But no nothing yet, my Mom says that's a boy for you, keeping you on pins and needles.
Well I'm on a thorn bush. ;D

It seems like torture waiting for babies to get here.  ::tickedoff::  When my cousin had her baby I felt like we waited forever, but her labor was relatively quick in reality.  :2funny:
I can't wait to see pictures.

I can't wait to take pics  ;D
Well we had our second last prenatal last night. She's getting uncomfortable now, but still working.
Turning over in the bed requires some help.
She should have a easy time of it in delivery, or at least a shorter time.
She's over 4cms.
Her friend was due the 12th as well and had her baby Sat. She was just 2 cms & in labor.
And we are having some better weather over the next few days, it would be a good time to come.
I tried telling him last night, but never got a call all night.
It's worse than waiting for kits.
Maybe the weekend.
Any bets she'll go over the 12th.
