More new babies!!!
« on: August 16, 2006, 06:13:03 PM »

:::grins::  Pepper, my standard female, delivered two beautiful beige kits today; a boy and a girl.  I am so excited! The boy was 66 grams and the girl 53 grams.  They were already fighting over access to mom though at one hour old, so I am going to remove the boy for short periods of time during the day to let his sister catch up to him.  Does that sounds like a good idea to everyone else?  I have only had one other litter of multiple kits, so I am not experienced with sibling rivalry.  I am terrified that they will get more aggressive over time and actually hurt each other! Is there anything I can do to reduce the chances of an injury?  Thanks!

Congratulations, nice size kits.
I have never seen any problems with twins, unless you feel they are hurting each other I'd leave them be. They'll work it out, and Mom may even do some scolding herself.
It's not uncommon for a some aggression between the kits. They just need to work out who's going to nurse where, and in what position.
They can look like pretzels sometimes.
I love it when they lay on their backs under Mom, and nurse from the other side. Each side shows one head facing up and his siblings tail. :D

I don't yet know how to post pics up here, but all five of my kits are posted on my for sale page and I also have pics of my adults on the photo album page; my website is
