have a question
« on: May 01, 2010, 11:51:41 PM »

I know that chins love toilets paper rolls. mine decides it wants to eat it? how safe is that? i have " chinchilla proofed " my bathroom, which is where i let her play. She runs and gets up to where she can reach the toilet paper roll and she wants to eat that too. I have been taking it away from her, but i saw a few posts where people let them play with it.

From what i'v been told its fine for them to eat it, you just don't want them to eat a whole lot of it. I'll let mine have a toilet paper roll or a paper towel roll. I just rip it in half and give them each a piece so they have their own to chew on.

Mine just like to rip them apart.  I haven't seen them eat any of roll yet though.

No me either, but I am sure some will eat some.
My shavings comes in a huge paper bag and I tear it up as I move to the bottom and twist strips and throw in the cages.
Mine also love drink trays and shred them.

We had carpet installed the other day...and the cardboard roll it comes on. Was left behind. So I had my husband saw off sections...my chins are enjoying tearing it up...they are just shredding it. And so...I'm going to contact the carpet store and see if I can get more of those. For...no one in town will save their large empty toilet paper rolls for me. And well...hubby sort of spazzed that it's not hygentic to get those anyways...being in a public bathroom and all.

I have never given mine any toilet paper roles to play with. The only thing I would be aware of is that I know some of the cheaper rolls of toilet paper as well as paper towels have glue on them...that I definitely would not give them.  ::shrug::
