Stew acting odd.
« on: June 05, 2010, 03:55:39 AM »

First I would like to say we just had a new baby! Not sure of gender yet...but aparently Steve wasnt Steve!

But on a darker note....Stew...Steve's mate (?) is now acting strangly...while cleaning his cage we put him in with the girls. All of a sudden he was making warning barks and then when my boyfriend looked one of the girls was on top of him holding him down...now he is very quiet and barely moving. At first we thought he was dead. His mate is tending to him along with the baby, but what on earth could have happened to him????

Hard to say I'm afraid.
He could have gotten spooked and went into shock.
Could he have gotten a bump?
Or could he have gotten over heated?
Those are the first things to come to mind.

Im going to say it had to of been shock. He's fully recovered and is an excellent father! It only took a few hours before he was back to normal..and might I say seeing Daddy Chin with Baby Chin is absolutely adorable!

Aww how old is baby?
You shouldn't put Dad with mom for at least 5 days, you know that right? ;)
But yes putting dad with the babies is the coolest. I show all my  chins new additions. Just a sniff through the cage, they can all tell what's up.
And keep a close eye on Dad, it could also have been a seizure.

Im glad he is back to normal but keep a very close eye on him. Like Debbie said they he should not go back with mom right away or she will get pregnant again and this is called a breedback. This is too hard on the mom.
