Different sound
« on: August 22, 2006, 06:59:44 AM »

When I pet Buddy he will make this sound that kinda sounds like he is gritting  his teeth. Is that normal? He only does it when I am petting him. I have sat by he cage a lot just to see if he will do it but it is just when I am petting him.

::silly:: Hi BabyTaz,

   I've never had one grit their teeth when petting them, but I have had them grit their teeth in appreciation, when I've given them their favorite treat.  Maybe he was just telling you it feels good.   ::)

 ::shrug:: That's all I can come up with ... unless ... are you touching/rubbing him under his chin or jaw?  If so, feel to make sure there are not any 'bumps' along the jaw line.  If so, that could be a problem you need to get checked.

Mine grind their teeth often when I'm scratching them.  They also do it in their sleep, or after I give them a treat, or pretty much whenever.  It's normal and don't be worried!  ::nod::

Rocky ( my first chinchilla, not dusty) used to "vibrate" when we held him. :::grins::
