pine bedding?
« on: June 21, 2010, 01:24:50 PM »

the petstore had no aspen bedding in, so i bought a bag of pine instead... i have heard its good, and that its bad. im a bit worried, will it hurt them. im definently not buying it again. the only problem i saw is the chins rub there noses when there on it. there usually not on the bottom though. there cage is huge 6 feet tall 4 feet wide and 3 feet deep. should i take it out and give them no bedding, or just leave it in there for the next week or so?

I've never had a problem with pine but it depends on if the wood is treated or not really.

I use kild dried pine for my personal chins and my rescues. The aspen tended to give me splinters. Maybe it was just the brand tho.

Pine is fine, that's all I have ever used.
Cedar is the problem shavings, and a lot of times they are mixed with the pine, so avoid those.

Pine is okay to use, I prefer aspen, it's what I always get but there were a couple times they did not have it in stock so I used pine. Lots of people use it so your fine.
