all the info re chin birth says they're usually late night or early morning but can happen any time.

i'm wondering, what sort of time are they usually born? they're usually fed at around 7am and my husband says fluffy definitely didn't show any signs of going into labour when she had the first lot. i'd like to be around just in case there's trouble.

Mine were born at around 11 am

i'm off tomorrow so i can check on her every half an hour - i just thought, maybe if it's at 4am, i'd need to set my alarm.

she's not due until monday but she looks like she could pop any minute!

Last baby was at 730am EST.  So im gonna say she started around 5am.  They can go at anytime from what i have read from JoAnn and everyone else.

i normally get up at 5.30 for work and check on her but i'm off tomorrow. i might just set my alarm

One of our litters were born around 10:00 am and the other was around 7:00 am.  The first littler we got to see the second one be born and the other one we just missed because the were still wet.  If you can witness it, it is pretty neat.  Good luck.

i've seen a few videos! it's amazing how they manage to do it all by themselves, isn't it? i'd like to be there just in case she needs help. i know she managed it all by herself the first time but this is a breedback pregnancy and she had been to the vets twice after the babies were born with mastitis and handled to have hot compresses and massages on the sore boob - thankfully managed to fix it without medication. and she lost her mate whom she was devoted to. so a lot of stress...
the vets have been briefed, hopefully we won't need them though!

i always heard early morning too, but i have no clue.. i remember one day when i found my first kit.. i was so surprised.. the mother was a beige and the kit was standard, so i noticed something in the cage with a different color than beige.. i was like.. what in the world is that.. then i was like.. AHHHHH OHHHHHH  ababyyy.... hahaha

There is no set time just like people any time of the day or night. It will more likely be when you are not around as it will be quieter then

tell me about it! we went to let ours for their evening run around & feed them, my husband opened the door and said
'ok...'
and i thought, 'oh god, someone managed to figure out how to open the cage and spent the day out'
then he said
'ok... fluffy-' here i'm thinking 'right, fluffy clearly managed to open the cage' as he continued '-is a girl, not a boy and we now have baby chinchillas'
one of the babies managed to get out and was peaking at him from the floor! he later said that he saw this thing on the floor and thought 'what the hell is that? is that a mouse? oh...'
i spent about 30 minutes hyperventilating and repeating 'oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god'
the babies are now happy and healthy chins

I have had kits born every time of day  took me a couple of years to catch a birth live

Mine were all born in the morning. I don't know why but births tend to happy late at night or early morning.

i did manage to be there! i get up for work at 5.30am so i went to check on her and she was behaving a little different - she was grooming my face which she normally doesn't do - so i stayed at home and she started having contractions at about 7-ish and baby luella was born two hours later it was amazing but at the same time i felt so bad that i could not do anything to help her - she wasn't loud but she was grinding her teeth a lot.
