Chinchilla Seasons
« on: September 23, 2010, 12:33:07 PM »

Do Chinchillas have seasons?

I've been on a variety of websites, some say they do, once a month, other say nothing at all.
How do i know if my female is in season, are there any signs? Or can they just get pregant all year round, and just watch my male very carefully a bit whilst he's with my females.

So i thought i'd ask the best, you guys :)

Any help much appreciated

xx

I have had chinchillas over 14 years and have been breeding much of that time I have only seen a mating a handful of times it takes seconds you will not be able to watch your females and prevent a mating if you do not plan on babbies the male must be kept separate even no playtime together it really truly takes seconds.

They come into to heat monthly and don't have much of a sign other than they are "open" so slightly dialated.
