Now that's a good question,
what's considered a healthy amount of time out of the cage.
You know most chins never get outside the cage. You take all those big to huge breeders, their chins never see outside the cage and they are among the biggest, best & healthiest. No wheels either.
When I was under 10 chins they'd get out for a hour or so. When I reached 15+ it got cut to 20-30 min. each cage. Now with 25+ and 12 -15 cages, 2 grand kids and life changes they only get out twice a week for 20 min. I have not seen any change in their health. Nor in their behavior,or attitude toward me. Nothing changed what so ever. They are just as eager to see me coming, get their scratches ,kisses & treats.
So I now get a little peeved when I read adds in the local papers selling chins because they don't have the time any more.
If you can't find 30 min. a
day to spend with them then yes re home, but chins with buddies and nice size cages are quite capable of utilizing that space for exercise.
I spend 1-2 hours a day with mine and more on cage cleaning day, though if I have plans I can feed the lot in about 20 min.
It`s all up to you and the guilt you feel in keeping them caged
They are quite capable of letting you know when they are not happy.
