We use Mazuri, and have no problem with it. We were just wondering about a few of the other pellets. Does anyone use them? What do they think of them?

I use the Kline pellets and mine chins seem to like them.

We use Manna Pro Sho Rabbit and have for years!  I have also used Mazuri but I prefer the results I get with the Sho.

I amusing Mazuri right now, but have mixed it with some Oxbow pellets to increase the palatability.  My chins don't seem to like just plain Mazuri, but if I add in about 1/5 Oxbow they eat it up like crazy.  I know it seems like I should just switch to Oxbow but it is harder to get it in bulk around here, and my local feed store sells Mazuri in stock.

I don't know which to vote honestly... I've been mixing Mazuri and APD Timmy for their feed for 6 years, simply because Mazuri is alfafla-based and Timmy being timothy-based and my chinnies produce solid poops.

I use oxbow because i love the results i get with it, i currently slowly mixing Manna Pro Sho Rabbit (Jamie's food) I'm not switching it's because Daisy is much healthier looking than when i got her when i use both foods.

I used Mazuri for many years, but when you have a problem getting it delivered in a timely manner and have 200 hungry mouths to feed, you have to go else where.

Kline and Oxbow are not available in my area, but are both very good.

Tradition was developed by a major breeder that has beautiful high quality chins, but is not available in my area.

Manna Pro Sho is available and has the approval of a chinchilla research center.  I'm having great results with it so far, just haven't been using it long enough yet.  I know I saw a huge difference in some chins Jamie is raising on it (some were formally my chins) ... I hope I can get the same results.

  All 28 of my chins are Mazuri chins!

I'm using Tradition. When I started purchasing my chinchillas from the larger ranchers, I kept having to switch them off the tradition onto the mazuri. I figured in the end, instead of having to switch everyone over- I might as well just switch to the feed that the people I'm buying from use. The two breeders I tend to deal with the most use the same feed as I do, so now I don't have to worry about having to switch the animals over.

I've been considering mixing a high-quality rabbit food into their mix, though. Simply because I need to get my feed twice a year- Once in ohio(8 hr drive), and once at the York Show.. and If I run out of tradition, it would be hard and expensive to get it to me.. With two different feeds going, I would have a "back up" incase I did get low on one feed.

25 pound bag of Mazuri cost us 12.49
50 pound bag of Manna ProSho 16.49 twice as much for 1/3 more in price.
I'm just getting going good with the Manna Pro Sho, so I haven't been using it long enough to see a big difference yet, but you can ask Jamie about the difference with her chins ... they look beautiful.  Now, the Manna ProSho is not the same as Purina Show Rabbit ... two different companies.

Hi Megan, What is the shelf life on Tradition?  Most pet foods only have 90 days.

I've been told Tradition is fine for about 6 months. After the 6 months, the nutrition starts to wear down, and it's no longer as fresh,but can still be fed.
