Meet our new pets! Skinks & Bearded Dragon
« on: September 01, 2006, 02:38:46 PM »

OK, So first we have the skinks.  We have 5 of them and they are alot of fun to watch because they are very active during the day.  They are about as close to snakes as I will allow in my house...in fact sometimes they are too close!  ::scaredspeachless::

Here is their cage:

And here are 3 of them on the sunning rock:

Now we have the bearded dragon

His cage:

Its not a ask pretty as the skink cage but they like a lot of hiding places

Closeup of him:

I never thought I would be a reptile person, but my son won out on this one!

:::grins:: You are a brave woman!  No really, they are very cute.  I love the sweet little faces on those  critters.  We have the skinks all over the place in the yard here, we could never keep them as pets though because our dogs are obsessed with them.  Funny because the dogs could care less about chinchillas but LOVE to catch skinks and toss them around.  :-\
So are these the skinks you were out looking for the one day we spoke?  You did well then!
Did your dragon start to eat yet?  Everything OK?

::silly::Very cute, Jamie!  But better your house than mine.  You want some mini frogs to go with them?  We have all kinds of them in the front yard ... they're not any bigger than my little fingernail.

I raised tadpoles for a project to let them into the water to raise the species, i almost couldn't do it.  ::sadtears::    i was in love with them.    When i was 4 had 4 crickets as a pet.  but thats as close as a reptile I've had. My kindergarden teacher had a iguana named "Iggy pop" we all took care of him. She still has Ole Iggy pop.  ::nod::

There is no way I could have those thing in my house! I am scared to death of anything that looks anything like a snake. I will about break my neck to get away from a lizard.
