Scared Jose?
« on: May 31, 2011, 07:18:43 PM »

Can a chinchilla get scared by something or someone and stay scared for a while? If so, how long do they tend to stay scared?

most definately.. as for how long, i'm thinking that would depend on the chin and what scared him,  i'm not really sure, that part i'm just guessing at... but they do get spooked.

my guys all know when someone is the room that they dont' know.

smart little ones.

they get scared, quite easily! i think maybe it's a prey animal thing, you need to get scared (and hide!) or else you get eaten!

unfamiliar noises, people, my chins sometimes scare each other by jumping off a ledge! for how long, it depends. if it's an unfamiliar sound they may not come out until it's gone. i find usually once they realise that there's no danger, they're back to normal.

Chins can get so stressed they can go into shock, stop eating and drinking, have seizures and or just curl up on the floor and pass.
Introducing a female to a new male some years back the female went right into attack mode." I was right there and had him in my arms before she got a chomp, but she scared him so bad he went into shock and passed away with in hours. ::cry222:::
