Leaving for the weekend
« on: November 03, 2011, 12:25:40 PM »

Hello,

I am leaving for the weekend - Friday night and returning in the afternoon on Sunday.  Is it ok to leave my baby girl for that long?  I always take her with me, but this time I can't and I don't have anyone to watch her.  If I leave enought food for her will she be ok?

Thank you!

i would be worried that something may happen, say if the water bottle gets knocked off or something like that (even though it never normally happens!!!) - is there maybe a service near where you live where people 'watch your pets' while you're away? all you'd need is somebody to go there on saturday evening to check she's ok.

at the same time, i do worry a lot :) it's not even two full days.

I worry too, that is why I always take her with me.  This time I can't.  I keep reading and asking others and they say that it is ok to leave them for the weekend as long as I leave food.  I just always have her cage open when I am at home so if she wants to come out.  But for not having it open on Friday, Saturday and part of Sunday I don't know what she would do.  She has a 6ft by 3ft cage with 4 levels so I am not worried about her not having her excercise and she loves her cage.  This is a tough one...

i would leave her in the cage. i'd be worried that she might nibble on something she's not supposed to while you're away, also, she could hurt herself in a larger space - i know, unlikely, but that's how my mind works!

Put an extra water bottle and extra food dish in the cage.  Also try and get a family member or trusted friend to check up on her.

Yes an extra water bottle wouldn't hurt but she should be fine for that long. ::nod::

Thank you All for your advice.  I had my friends come over one day and she was fine the rest of the weekend by herself.  I am glad when I got home...She was sooo happy to see me.  :::grins::
