Getting Started: Chin color
« on: December 11, 2011, 03:48:17 AM »

Hi everybody!

I guess I have a very basic question, expression of my "Newbie" status: what color is my Chin?

I think he's "standard" but I found on line some pictures of Chins that to me look like him but have different color definition and I am not sure about the velvets thing.

Thank you very much for your help!

Ciao,
Louis

Thank you so much Debbie~ Is it common that a standard chinchilla has a tail with white top?

::silly::  Looks like a standard to me.  Pictures can be very deceiving .... at first I thought there was more than one chin ... but ... these pictures are a perfect example as to how a difference in lighting, cameras, photo programs and/or surroundings can change the look of a chin drastically.   :::grins::

Yes, some standard gray chins will have a white tip on the end of the tail.  If the white tip were more pronounced, and it was a younger kit ... I might have said it may still change colors, but the tummy fir and the fir on the side do give a definite dividing line/pattern between the two colors.  You might want to check out "The Changing Colors of a Chinchilla" article in the Chinchilla Club Magazine archive to understand more clearly my last statement.

BTW ... you should have entered that first shot in the Chinchilla Club On Line Show ... he would have gotten my vote for the cutest chin!!!
