Chilly 1986-2006
« on: September 12, 2006, 08:28:45 AM »

 ::sadtears::

My 20 1/2 yr old chinchilla Chilly passed away this morning suddenly. Last night he was taking a dust bath and eating his raisin and this am I found him lying on his back in his dust house.
He was so sweet and loving, would give me nibbles and stretch his neck for me so I could rub under it. He learned how to grab for raisins using his paws. He sired many adorable baby chins with his mate Charlotte who passed on years ago.
Chilly....I miss you so much. No matter how many years they live, it's never enough.

I am so sorry to hear about Chilly.  :-[  I am sure that it is heart breaking.  But how fortunate you were to have him for such a long time.  20 years is a very long life for a chinchilla.  I'm sure he was very happy right to the very end!

We are thinking of you! :hugs:

:hugs:That must have been devastating to have him so long, then loose him.  They become part of the family and not just a pet.  But, at the same time, as Jamie said, you are  sooooooo fortunate to have had him for so long.  If he seemed happy last night, then he probably went gently.  Now he's in chinnie heaven feeling young and spry again.

My family sends it's sincere sympathy to you.  We are so sorry to hear of Chilly's passing.  Pets really are members of the family and it is never easy to lose one.  I still think of my first cat that lived 21 glorious years.  I got her when I was in the first grade and she passed away in my arms one night when I was a grown woman.  Mom had called to say Bootsie was ill and I came home to say goodbye and to be with my kitty those last few days.  She went peacefully in her own home.  I have a little album that I keep her pictures in and cherish it!

Thank you all for all your kind thoughts and remembrances. I would like to get a stone memorial for Chilly, I found this website, http://www.artisticetching.com/petmemorials.htm, they have almost every animal etching you can think of, but not chinchillas.
Does anyone out there know of any stone memorials with a chinchilla etching on them?

I'm sorry for your loss. I know it has to be hard after having him that long.

I too am so sorry for your loss, but rejoice in you having loved each other for so very long.
It doesn't make it any easier I know, but wow that must have been some kind of wonderful to have him so long.
