ok so lulu my dog was sniffing niblits cage and shes on her back legs sitting up while lulus sniffing and niblit leans back and SHOOTS PEE AT LULU! O_O    i didnt know chinchillas had magic pee shooting powers!  and niblit looks at me and does it again at lulu im like wtf! did i just see that!?!?!? so yeah this happen like 5mins ago too! i had to post about it! has this happen to anyone else?

not yet but now im scared ottis might do that to meeee.. oh my goodness... i hope lulu is okay! i have read somewhere that if they are marking their territory/feel threatened they do it as a defense mechanism..

Female chinchillas are known for doing this when startled. It is a defensive thing in this case and some are worse about this than others. Chin owners beware! If they spray you the best thing to do is ignore it and not react to it as much as possible. This helps to condition them to think you are immune to it and will hopefully cause them to give up.

shes never done it before! but thank you i was just freaking out because ive never heard of a chin shooting its own pee at someone or other pets haha! but it will teach lulu from whining at her cage or bark at her lol

That is perfectly normal. My Female has never done it . Joann on here told a story though about how one of her chins used to always get her Husband if he walked in the room and didnt talk to her . They are accurate up to something like 8 feet or so .

haha!!! thats funny that seems like what my chin niblit would do lol! i think its funny how she was just chillin there and waiting for lulu (my dog) to walk past her and she let her have it! haha!!

I've heard of this a lot but I've only ever seen it myself once. My oldest chinchilla Annie sprayed me one day when I came home after playing with my parents dog. I reckon the smell of dog freaked her out. I guess some chinchillas just don't like dogs very much!
