humping problem?

my chinchilla davin seems to be having a problem humping my wifes right hand its only the one hand he grabs on for dear life and when she pulls him off he just starts to go to town on his nono zone so we put him back in his cage and he starts to run around all spastic he never used to do this and now its making my wife upset because she cand hold him because of this please help i have no idea what to do to get him to stop doing this ::shrug::

Some animals are sensitive to hormonal changes in their owners. Give your chin a few days to cool off.

Sometimes it helps to get your chinchilla a "friend" for this purpose.  Go to the pet store and buy a stuffed animal that is safe for pets that is about the same size as your chinchilla.  Try to stay away from the really fluffy ones since your chin will probably groom his new friend and you don't want him ingesting long hairs.  Also, you might have your wife wash her hands before handing him, and change your hand soap.  Hopefully a new smell will help discourage him.
