chinchilla behaving differently when it rains?
« on: December 24, 2012, 08:18:58 AM »

I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed this to be the case? She seems to act a bit stressy...or more jumpy than usual. It may be the sound of the rain on street or bouncing off the window...just curious if anyone else has noticed this.

I've noticed no difference in mine when it rains but no two animals are going to be the same. Perhaps it is a noise specific to your house.

yeah its just over a year ive had her and spending up to 3 hours or so a day with her it seems to be that she is much more jumpy when it rains. i do live in england now and the street is basically right next to the door so she does hear cars going by. who knows.

You could try running a fan or radio in the background to help drown out some of the noise. (not blowing into the cage) I know that works for some animals. Usually when chinchillas hear something they are cautious about they'll stand with their ears up.

Zeus flips when it's raining. I try not to let him out of the cage when it is raining, all he does is run and hide if I do let him out.  :-\
My poor buddy is more reliable than the weather channel sometimes, his ears go down about an hour before it rains and it seems like the moment the first drop falls he's hidden.

Wow. Snickerdoodle doesn't care about anything! We live in NYC, so I guess he's used to noise.
