Chinchilla eye problems.
« on: December 06, 2012, 02:34:17 PM »

Hi, I just wanted to say a thank you to all of you people on here because my chinchilla Peakaboo had eye problems and I had NO idea WHAT to do.  ::scaredspeachless:: I researched what was wrong but this was the only site that I could find that had the information I needed, and I found out how to get him better again using saline solution. ( who woulda thunk it  ::think::) But any way I just wanted to say thank you so Thank You.  :) ::silly:: (My chin says thanks to :))

That's awesome. Glad your chinchilla is doing better.

Symptoms that there are eye problems would include a discharge from the eye(clear or white), redness, swelling around the eye, or your chinchilla being unable to keep one of their eyes all the way open.It makes them miserable, just like it would a human, so it's important that their owner gets them to the vet pronto, if flushing the eye out with saline solution or natural tears doesn't work.If an eye ointment or drop is needed, I've found that the eye drops work better for a chin. Eye ointments are gunky, attract dirt/dust and the chin tends to try to groom the ointment away.
