Hi Jenova,
If that was one of my chins I would say they were tickled pink.
When mine are very happy and out running around they chirp all the time.
They do love to explore new surroundings, some are quite socialable.
The sounds of kids off in the distance may have made him think there were other chins around.
That said, you know your chins best, did it sound like a distressed chirping.
Some will get just as stressed whith a change, though it doesn't sound like he was stressed to me. Just glad your brought him with you.
Check out chin sounds and see what you think it was like.

I think I may have come up with the reason he was 'barking'. When he's downstairs he has a nice cool spot away from the window, but that puts him on an outside wall and on the other side of that wall there is building work going on. It's not very loud but chins have better ears than us so perhaps he preceived it as danger. I had a look on the internet for some chin sounds and found this:

It also says:

"Occasionally, you can hear a chin barking while it is sleeping. Usually, it makes just a few croaky/hoarse shouts then. I am sure chins do dream! I think they sometimes even have nightmares."

So I think he might have been having a little nightmare.  :-[ When I called to him he calmed down. Although we like him in our room and he seems quite settled here he might have to go back to his spot downstairs because he's such a noisy sleeper. Bless.

I bet at least 2-3 times a day one of the chins will let out a bark in their sleep.
I don't see why they wouldn't dream.
Funny thing is it could be one of a pair doing the barking, and the other doesn't make a move from their sleeping pile.
So why ever they do it never seems to bother any of the others.

I'm sure you'll figure out in time why your chin does or says what he does.
It's hard to tell what they are getting on with unless your there. Every chin is different, and every set up is so different. That's why we always say to get to know your chin, and keep a good routine going.
It's so much easier to spot problems, or interpret what the chins are saying and doing.
