I am new and soon to be chinchilla owner i am getting 2 from someone i know monday i can't wait! Both males and littermates around 2 years old i think and they are in a ferret nation cage double unit. My mom had a chinchilla years ago so i know how to care for them i just may need questions answered if needed. Fluffy our chinchilla we had to put to sleep we only had him for a year or 2. My brothers friend didn't know he was running around outside cage after we told him and he accidently stepped on his head and so he had fractured scull so we had to put him to sleep. I miss having a chinchilla too.

Congrats on your new chins. That sounds like a very nice setup. With the Ferret Nation cages you can order metal pans if you find your chins chew the plastic ones. Also they are deeper and contain the mess better.

I'm sorry to hear about your first chin. That kind of thing isn't unheard of because they are so fast and quiet.
