Having a hard time finding Chinchillas
« on: April 18, 2013, 08:39:59 AM »

Hello everyone,

I've been searching for Chinchillas here in the Philippines but of to no avail. I know it seems like an ambitious plan but I want to bring in a pair of Chins from another country. For people who've already gone through this, I'd really appreciate your input & suggestions to my idea.

Cheers,

Josh

Do you know the rules of your country regarding owning chinchillas?

As far as I know, there aren't many rules against bringing in exotic animals as long as it isn't an invasive species. I know that I must secure the proper permits and pay the fees which aren't that expensive but beyond that I know next to nothing. I would probably be wise to do research before I attempt anything. I found a breeder on the internet today and he sells Chins at price range of 200 to 300 dollars.

You should do more research on the breeder before you purchase from him. You don't want to buy a chinchilla that is ill or genetically defective.

Contact Shoots Chinchilla Ranch.  He has experience shipping chinchillas out of the country and I am sure he could help you out.  Plus you couldn't ask for a better line of chinchillas.
