Fleck of dirt in ear
« on: September 15, 2013, 09:57:21 AM »

Doodle had a piece of white dirt in his ear. It looked like a flake of skin, so I decided to keep an eye on it. Five minutes later, it was gone. Did I do the right thing by not getting a q- tip and cleaning it out? Thanks!

Skin flakes and hair will be constantly shed inside the ear and will always come out with regular grooming in a healthy animal. Putting a q-tip into the ear is not advised and presents a risk of injury to the ear canal and possible cerumen impaction.
