1st time Chin owner cage advise

Hi Guys,
Went to a breeder on Saturday and saw 2 brothers that we are going to be brining home in the new year however obviously we need a cage to keep them in.
Have been looking at this one
http://www.littlepetwarehouse.co.uk/hamberley-single-metal-large-cage-p-12607.html
My plan is to buy some untreated pine board and make a 2nd floor as well as a load of perches they can climb and sit on.
Anyone got anything to add? Or even any cage reconsiderations. I'm looking to spend about 100GBP.
Thanks, Matt.

If you have the space i would suggest this cage...
It is more expensive but for an animal that can reach 20 years it really isn't that much money.
I'm kicking myself in the butt for not seeing it before i bought mine.

The one you have linked will be alright for a while i would think.

Also, youll have to do something with the floor of the cage you linked...fleece or something.
In all honesty if i were you i would maybe think about saving a little more money and going for something bigger.

With any cage that has ramps, please remove them as they are unsafe for chinchillas. I personally have a Critter Nation but not sure if you have those where you are? Make sure your cage has no plastic in it...and wire bottom is OK as long as they have a place to rest off of the wire. You could put some wood or something on the bottom. My cage came with ramps and plastic pans but I removed the ramps and plastic and replaced with metal pans and wood. Hope that helps! And I agree, with two chins, bigger is better!

Thanks for the advise guys unfortunately I actually ordered it before I got any replies. Mr impatient I know. I will be adding plenty of wooden platforms and a 2nd floor made from wood to the cage as well as covering half the wire bottom with wood. Will see how it goes as I would really like to make my own cage in the not to distant future anyway.

Here is a link to my cage setup. It is a parrot cage with several modifications and much has been documented on its development.
For the floor if you want to do wood I recommend this system. I used a table saw to make a frame and stapled steel construction cloth underneath. The cloth was cut using an angle grinder and the edges are inaccessible to the animal. In my case my chinchillas knew to pee through the grate and not onto the wood but accidents may happen at first. If they do you may have to use pine chips in a pan to encourage that.
