Hey guys,I have one female chinchy that's about 10 weeks old.. i have been thinking about building my own cage, i was wondering what type of wood i should use?
How big should i make it? (i live in an apartment, so nothing extravagant) If i could get some helpful tips or pictures on how to make it suitable for her that she would enjoy staying in. Thanks

Typically chinchilla cages with wooden frames use white pine. If you use wood be very careful they do not chew through it in a way that affects the design of the cage or they may get injured or escape. The ideal chinchilla cage is all metal and will have a metal pan at the bottom. A wooden cage floor will not work because it will soak up the urine and mold posing a threat to your animals. I'm not really an expert on cage design other than I have built a small cage using construction cloth and hardware designed for making cages out of it.
