Chinchilla restless
« on: January 04, 2015, 09:52:06 PM »

My chinchilla is restless and she is jumping around and she's really hyper. I am assuming she just has more energy since its night, but is there anything I should do to calm her down? Thanks

Chinchillas bounce.  A lot.  All night long.  Well they do sleep slightly at night like they tend to have a sleepy time in the afternoon.  They are most active at dawn and dusk.  Make sure they have plenty to chew on for entertainment.  A wheel is not necessary but very appreciated since bouncing on the same shelves to get exercise for hours can get boring.

try petting her where she likes to be petted the best. For Pepper it's on the upper right side of his neck. They sit still, and close their eyes, and it looks so cute.

Sounds like a normal chin! Chins are not nocturnal, rather they are crepuscular, meaning active during twilight hours of dawn and dusk. Younger chins tend to have more energy, but chin can be energetic well into their later years as welll  :::grins::
