lemon?
« on: January 02, 2015, 03:08:20 PM »

hi! my idea isn't give lemon, i want use it like repellent against chinchilla. i think if i spray lemon juice in cage floor then he will not want to bite it , but i do not know if lemon juice can hurt my chinchilla or if he doesn't like lemon, perhaps not serve the idea.

anyway the most important thing for me is to know if lemon is bad for chinchillas????

A spray shouldn't have enough to do any harm but it's not going to do anything useful either.  They might even enjoy licking and chewing it off.  There are bitter apple and pepper sprays but I find none of the flavor deterents really work.  If the animal is set on it's habit it will just keep making small attempts until all the spray is off and they can go back to what they were chewing on in the first place.  Some even like the really strong flavors.

The best thing to do is let your pets play where there is nothing they can get hurt chewing. If they are well bonded to you you can discourage them by pulling them away from the area. You'll have to do that a hundred times and you'll see improvent but you'll never be consistent!
