Bronchitis
« on: March 30, 2015, 07:21:34 PM »

Hey all,
Just wondering how easily a chin could catch a (possible) viral bronchitis. My boyfriend has been coughing for almost a month (allergies/congestion, this happens every spring) but now its gotten really bad and I'm not sure if it is viral or not. No fever that I know of but that doesn't say much :( Hes not handling the chins now but we aren't sure about him even being in the same room as them. Any advice on what to do and signs to look for in the chins? Thanks so much!

Virus do not usually pass between human and animal.  It's quite common though to develop a bacterial infection as well when you have a long lasting cough.  Bacteria are not so picky.

I agree. Bacteria is more transmittable but a little harder to spread than a virus as well. Certainly wash your hands often. URI oin chins can present with coughing, sneezing, nasal discharge, nose whistling, runny watery eyes, mucousy eyes, drooling, and weight loss. It can any one, or a combibation.

Thank you! We've been watching (well, I have been..he's not allowed to since he's sick) them very closely for any differences.

In my opinion this risk is very low that you'll transmit your bronchitis to a healthy pet.
