Need help for chinchilla with a dental problem
« on: January 15, 2017, 01:42:44 AM »

We have a four year old chinchilla with a dental problem. Last Saturday he had an operation and survived it but unfortunately he doesn’t want to eat nothing by himself. He was on antibiotics and meloxicam for 7 days and we are giving him food with syringe but he doesn’t like it all and he is fighting during the process of feeding. The doctors say he doesn’t have other health problems. Has anyone been in this situation? Is this normal? How long does it takes from them to stars to eat by themselves even soft food (their food placed in water). We are from Bulgaria and will be very grateful for any information and tips.

Here is attached the X-ray jpeg from Veterinary clinic before dental operation.

Were xrays done? can you post pics of them? What dental problem did he have?
Please be aware that dental problems will happen again, they are not curable. You need to be force feeding him till he starts eating. Are you weighing him to see if hes holding his weight? Thats important to know

If you have trouble uploading the photo feel free to send it to admin@chinchillaclub.com and I'll make sure it gets posted.
